- Lower demand traction seen initially this week
- Billet, patra prices decline by up to INR 600/t w-o-w
ERW patra pipe (41-60 OD) prices dropped w-o-w in Raipur and Mandi Gobindgarh, as market sentiments turned dull amid rising prices over the initial days of the week, along with raw material tags. Trade activities, however, improved slightly by mid-week, giving some leverage to prices and a platform to stabilise.
W-o-w price trends
Raipur: Prices fell by INR 600/tonne (t) w-o-w to INR 41,400/t on Friday against INR 42,000/t a week ago. Trade volumes of around 1,930 t were recorded this week.
Mandi: Prices softened by INR 200/t w-o-w to INR 43,900/t on 1 August against INR 44,100/t on 25 July. Trade activities for around 3,100 t were recorded this week.
D-o-d price trends
D-o-d, prices went up by INR 100/t in both Raipur and Mandi Gobindgarh. Listed prices are ex-works (exw), excluding 18% GST.
Raw material price impact
Prices of key raw materials such as hot-rolled strips (patra) and billets weakened w-o-w both Raipur and Mandi markets, after having rallied in the week ended 26 July 2025.
HR strip (patra) prices declined by INR 500/t w-o-w to INR 41,200/t exw-Raipur as on 1 August against INR 41,700/t last week. Patra prices decreased by INR 300/t to INR 42,900/t exw-Mandi as on 25 July against INR 43,200/t last week.

Steel billet prices in Raipur dropped by INR 600/t to INR 37,550/t exw on 1 August, compared to INR 38,150/t on 25 July. Additionally, billet prices in Mandi decreased by INR 100/t w-o-w to INR 40,700/t DAP on 25 July compared to INR 40,800/t last week.
Outlook
ERW patra pipe prices are likely to rise slightly in the near term. The improvement in infrastructure and civil project segment activities with the receding of monsoons will support prices. Also, market participants hinted towards pre-booking of materials for September would start in the next few days, which would boost the trading further, thereby lending a thrust to prices.
