A Raipur-based manufacturer said, “The market is moving towards a downtrend, and the only support for pipe prices is coming from tight billet supply. Prices could fall further. The festive season could also put pressure on margins as labour and transportation costs rise slightly.”
Mandi Gobindgarh: ERW patra pipe prices fell by INR 1,600/t w-o-w to INR 51,300/t exw on 16 October from INR 52,900/t a week earlier. The decline was attributed to lower raw material costs and subdued demand throughout the week. Buyers were also facing cash-flow constraints as the festive season approached.
A Mandi Gobindgarh-based manufacturer said, “Demand for HR Strip (patra) is relatively better, but the pipe demand remains subdued. After more than 10 days of subdued demand, there is still no optimistic outlook for an improvement in the coming weeks.”

Outlook

Moreover Market participants also do not expect a significant recovery in demand over the short term. However, tighter billet supply could provide some support by constraining production and limiting the extent of price declines.
