Paradip port in eastern India has increased its coal handling this year due to rising coastal shipping amid a growth in demand of both thermal and coking coals. Coastal shipping at the port is anticipated to rise by 60% to 40 mnt for 2022 as against 28 mnt last year. The port’s handling capacity has also increased to around 55 rakes as against 20 rakes due to the commissioning of the new terminal.
