India: CIL’s coal dispatches to power sector rise to historic high in FY’22

State-run Coal India Limited (CIL) has registered its highest-ever coal dispatches to power plants during FY’22. Supplies to the power sector soared to a record 540.4 mnt, up 21% y-o-y compared to 445 mnt in FY’21. This came on the back of an unprecedented rise in power demand, marking a significant recovery post Covid-induced lockdowns.
