Coal India Ltd (CIL) increased production by 12%, m-o-m, to 60.22 mn t in Dec’21. However, driven by strong restocking demand from the power sector, coal despatches of 60.6 mn t during the month again edged higher than the state-owned miner’s monthly production. At the end of Dec, CIL’s pithead stocks at mines belonging to the various subsidiaries had fallen to a new low of 31.9 mn t.
