- OMC records 54% m-o-m growth in dispatches in Sep
- IMFA leads among buyers, Jindal Stainless ranks 2nd
India’s chrome ore dispatches increased by 27% m-o-m to 269,965 t in September 2025 from 211,737 t in August. The increase was supported by a rise of around INR 13,500/t ($152/t) m-o-m in ferro chrome prices to INR 117,100/t ($1,321/t) exw-Jajpur in September, along with strong buying interest at the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) chrome ore auction on 19 September, where bids were 3-26% higher than base prices across grades.
OMC recorded the highest growth, with dispatches rising 54% m-o-m to 149,728 t in September. Tata Steel also witnessed a 41% increase to 35,130 t. On the other hand, dispatches from FACOR and IMFA dipped slightly by 6% and 4% to 7,485 t and 53,405 t, respectively.
Procurement trends

IMFA emerged as the leading chrome ore buyer with 53,405 t, sourced entirely from its captive mines. Jindal Stainless stood second with 52,830 t, of which 95% (50,227 t) was procured from OMC and the remaining 5% (2,604 t) from its captive mines. Visa Steel ranked third with 24,697 t, sourced entirely from OMC.
