India: CERC to compensate higher costs incurred by imported coal-based power plants

Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has decided to fully compensate imported coal-based (ICB) plants for higher running costs incurred against electricity supplied under forced provisions. The order will benefit the ICB plants which ran at full capacity by consuming overpriced coal under government mandate to meet soaring demand during the peak summer season in 2022.
