- Entire offered quantity booked at latest auction
- Firm met coke costs support ferro chrome prices
At Vedanta-FACOR’s ferro chrome auction held on 11 September 2026, the entire offered quantity was sold out. The prime lot (Cr: 57% min, 10-150 mm) opened at INR 117,500/t ($1,229/t) and fetched an H1 price of INR 118,000/t ($1,234/t) exw, up INR 400/t ($4/t) from the previous auction. The small lot opened at INR 118,000/t ($1,234/t) and fetched an H1 price of INR 118,200/t ($1,236/t).
The previous auction fetched INR 117,600/t ($1,230/t) exw for the same Cr: 57% min lumps lot. The slightly higher realisation indicates a modest upward trend in the Indian ferro chrome market.
In the spot market, ferro chrome prices have also stayed at around INR 119,000/t ($1,245/t) exw-Jajpur, supported by firm input costs, particularly of met coke.
The auction result, along with the firmer spot market, suggests that ferro chrome prices are finding some support from production costs. With the entire proposed quantity sold out, buying interest remained sufficient to support a modest increase in auction bids.
