Northern Coalfields Ltd. (NCL) witnessed bid prices rising sharply at its recent coal auction on 26 Apr’22. The entire offered volume of 0.8 mnt comprising grades ranging from G5-G11 was sold out, of which the G5 grade fetched a price realisation of INR 12,800/t. This coal grade had fetched INR 5,895/t in Sept’21, the last time it was offered in an auction. Bid premiums were 516% higher than the notified price which was at 381% in Mar’22.
