Steel major Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) recorded total iron ore and pellet sourcing at 1.11 million tonnes (mnt) in Feb’22, witnessing a slight decrease of 8%, m-o-m, as against 1.21 mnt in Jan’22.
The company’s captive iron ore sourcing from Odisha was recorded at 358,977 tonnes (t) in February compared to 353,550 t in January, largely stable, m-o-m.
Iron ore procurement from NMDC Chhattisgarh drops: The steelmaker procured 642,000 t of iron ore in February from NMDC’s Bailadila mines in Chhattisgarh via slurry pipeline as against 683,000 t in January, down by 6% m-o-m.
Sourcing from Odisha merchant mines rises: The company sourced 107,245 t of iron ore from Odisha’s merchant mines in February compared to 98,639 t in the previous month.
Out of the total iron ore sourced from Odisha’s merchant mines in February, the maximum quantity was contributed by Rungta Mines at 50,007 t followed by Kashvi International and MGM Minerals at 37,586 t and 10,631 t, respectively.
That apart, the company recorded nil iron ore imports for the month, according to customs data maintained with SteelMint.
The company’s crude steel output stood at 0.55 mnt in February, a fall of 9% as against 0.6 mnt in January.
