India: Alang’s scrapped ship imports stable in Oct’21

The Alang shipbreaking yard’s total imported tonnage stood at 132,288 LDT in Oct’21 against 132,024 LDT in Sep. In all, 175 ships were beached for demolition from 1 Jan-30 Oct, out of which there were seven tankers (63,397 LDT), SteelMint data shows. Alang recyclers remain eager for tonnage in Q4, although supply shortage is likely to prevail till at least Q1CY’22, as per sources.
