India: Alang scrap ship imports up 46%, m-o-m, in Feb’22

A total of 16 vessels with combined light displacement tonnage (LDT) of 89,604 were received at Alang for recycling in Feb’22, up 46% compared with 61,391 LDT in Jan. SteelMint data show that 29 ships were beached at Alang for demolition during Jan-Feb. The ship recycling market performed remarkably well with stable demand and supply and maintained an upward momentum allowing buyers to bid competitively for vessels.
