Around 250 industries operating using coal-based boilers in Panipat, Haryana are directed to shut operations as they failed to switch from coal to biomass fuels. The Commission of Air Quality Management (CAQM) had issued a directive in February which said that the industry operating on coal in the NCR region will be shut down after 30 Sep if they didn’t switch to biomass fuel like CNG, LNG, Biogas, Propane etc.
