Talking about challenges being faced, Mr BP Pandey, Mining Expert from JSW shared that there is time lag between IBM declaring Average sale price which needs to be reduced to make the procedure smooth. Also scientific methodology to be enhanced with latest technology and digitization. He also highlighted on other challenge being faced is lump and fines ratio and ascertaining quality of dispatched material.
Other challenges in Forest clearances include two stage processes which needs to be resolved. Also there is difference between IBM declared price and actual bid prices in Karnataka. A uniform pricing sales, declaration methodology should be administered across India, he added.
Mr Manish Kharbanda, Group Advisor – New Mines Development, JSPL & President, PMAI, India also shared his views and suggested that there may be auction of iron ore mines industry-wise (separately for pellet and sponge) to provide a more level playing field.
He also suggested that G2 level of exploration criteria may be related to G3 levels for more blocks to qualify for auction. Easing out of logistics issues and early processing of mining applications can facilitate the process.
