Govt returns Lokayukta mining report, wants detailed one

The Karnataka government has kept the Lokayukta report on
illegal mining on hold for a while. This however, will have no impact on the
Supreme Court's ban on mining as that is based on the central empowered
committee's report.

The Lokayukta is likely to be directed to submit a
comprehensive report taking into consideration all the mining activities in
Karnataka starting from 2000. The current report takes into account only 2008
-2010.

Sources say that this move is to ensure a fair review to
BJP. It is learnt that the new report will take atleast three months. However,
no deadline has been yet given to the Lokayukta.

The report earlier had resulted in the resignation of former
Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and three other ministers from Bellary.
