With the recent trade statistics released by various major Global Pig iron exporters and importers it can be seen that the top exporters and importers of pig iron almost contribute 80-90% of the total exports and imports of pig iron.
The top 5 exporters such as Russia, Brazil, South Africa, Netherlands and India saw a drop in their exports. Whereas Top 5 Pig Iron importers – USA, Italy, Turkey, Netherlands and South Korea, all decreased their imports except Netherlands where the imports rose.
Russia:
The largest Pig iron exporter, Russia exported 5.13 MnT during CY2016, reporting a slight drop by 4% in its pig iron exports as compared to CY2015 where the country exported around 5.33 MnT.
Brazil:
The second biggest country in terms of export pig iron exports saw a downfall of 21% in CY2016 exporting 2.18 MnT whereas 2.75 MnT of pig iron was exported in CY2015.
South Africa:
The country’s pig iron exports dipped 28% in CY2016 as they exported 0.31 MnT. And they had exported 0.43 MnT in CY2015.
Netherlands:
Netherlands exported 0.30 MnT of pig iron in CY2016. CY2016 exports were less by 8% from CY2015 exports where the country exported 0.33 MnT of pig iron. Whereas the country registered a growth of 2% in its imports of pig iron as they imported 0.48 MnT in CY2016 as compared to the import of 0.47 MnT in CY2015
India:
India register a heavy margin downfall in its pig iron exports as the country exported only 0.17 MnT in CY2016 as compared to 0.39 MnT pig iron export in CY 2015.
USA:
USA, the largest imported of pig iron saw a reduction in their imports by 15% in CY2016 as they imported 3.87 MnT of pig iron as compared to CY2015 imports amounting 4.53 MnT.
Italy:
The imports of pig iron in Italy were down by 4% in CY2016, the country imported around 1.60 MnT as compared to the import of 1.67 MnT in CY2015.
Turkey:
Pig Iron imports in Italy were down by 10% for CY2016 as they imported around 1.07 MnT as compared to 1.19 MnT import of pig iron in CY2015
South Korea:
The country saw a downfall of 18% in its pig iron importing after importing 0.37 MnT in CY2016 in lieu of 0.41 MnT pig iron import which was imported in CY2015
