Global Pig Iron H1 2016 Updates: Export Down 14% and Import by 9%

With the recent trade release by the major global Pig iron exporters and importers, it is legible that H1 2016 was not good as there was a downfall of 14% in export and 9% in import.

As per recent trade release, global Pig iron export registered a downfall of 14% and import by 9%. Collectively, 3.87 MnT of Pig iron were exported by top 4 major exporters and 3.27 MnT were imported by top 4 key importers.

Russia: Russia, the largest Pig iron exporter, exported 2.66 MnT during H1 2016, registered a growth of 5% Y-o-Y. Major importers to Russia were USA (1.14 MnT), Italy (0.41 MnT), Spain (0.32 MnT), Turkey (0.15 MnT) and Taiwan (0.12 MnT). The nation had exported 2.54 MnT during H1 2015.

Brazil: With 1.01 MnT of Pig iron export during H1 2016, the nation witnessed a downfall of 28% Y-o-Y. Largest importers to Brazil were USA (0.35 MnT), Netherlands (0.16 MnT), Mexico (0.08 MnT), Peru (0.08 MnT) and Argentina (0.07 MnT). 1.29 MnT Pig iron was exported from Brazil during H1 2015.

South Africa: The nation reported a downfall of 63% to 0.16 MnT during H1 2016 against 0.26 MnT during H1 2015. Major importers to South Africa were USA (0.06 MnT), Netherlands (0.03 MnT), Italy (0.02 MnT), South Korea (0.01 MnT) and Taiwan (0.01 MnT).

India: With total exports of 0.04 MnT, India registered a sharp downfall of 700% during H1 2016 compared to 0.32 MnT in H1 2015. As per different sources from market, export fell due to comparatively high prices and low global offers. Major importers to India were Thailand (0.03 MnT) and Bangladesh (0.01 MnT).

USA: The largest Pig iron importer, USA imported 1.68 MnT during H1 2016, registered a downfall of 21% against 2.04 MnT in H1 2015. Major exporters to USA were Russia (0.91 MnT), Brazil (0.34 MnT), Ukraine (0.26 MnT), Latvia (0.05 MnT) and Switzerland (0.05 MnT).

Italy: With total of 0.78 MnT of Pig iron imports during H1 2016, the nation’s imports remained stable. Major exporters to Italy were Russia (0.40 MnT), Ukraine (0.27 MnT), Brazil (0.03 MnT), South Africa (0.02 MnT) and Netherlands (0.01 MnT).

Turkey: 0.61 MnT material was imported by Turkey during H1 2015; registered a growth of 15% compared to 0.52 MnT in H1 2015. Major exporters to Turkey were Ukraine (0.35 MnT), Russia (0.23 MnT) and South Korea (0.02 MnT).

South Korea: The country imported 0.20 MnT during H1 2016, registered a downfall of 15% in contrast to 0.23 MnT during H1 2015. Major exporters were Russia (0.13 MnT), China (0.04 MnT) and Malaysia (0.01 MnT).
