Coking Coal Import Offers Continue to Rise on Strong Chinese Buying

Fuel cost for Indian steel makers have escalated as prices of Coking coal has gone up in the key international market.

Import offers of Coking coal have gone up significantly as buying by Chinese steel makers have intensified.

The latest import offers of the Premium HCC were assessed significantly higher at USD 121/MT CFR India; and HCC 64 Mid Vol import offers were also assessed remarkably up at USD 119/MT CFR India.

Australian suppliers offered these variants of Coking coal at USD 107/MT FoB and USD 105/MT FoB respectively.

The higher Coking coal prices also will lead to Met coke prices going up.

IMPORTS

In July’16, total imports into India were at 4.03 MnT, which were lower by 7.3% than the imports in Jun’16 at 4.35 MnT.
