Germany to extend life of 3 nuclear plants for winter power demand

In a bid to ensure sufficient energy supply for the winter, Germany is extending life of its three remaining nuclear plants until mid-April 2023 as grid operators have warned against higher energy demand during the winter. The Isar 2, Neckarwestheim 2, and Emsden plants were scheduled to phase out by this year end. This move will also keep its coal demand higher.
