Germany plans to reactivate coal-fired power plants to increase power supply

Germany has planned to reactivate coal and oil power plants if gas supply from Russia turns down. The government is set to present an emergency decree later today that will help to reactivate plants that were supposed to shut down in line with Germany’s coal exit plan. The emergency decree which will be valid till March 2024 is set to increase short-term use of coal-fired plants.
