India imported about 318,000 MT of ferrous scrap in Aug’16, down marginally by 3% M-o-M. Two of the major western ports viz. Kandla and Mundra ports were among the top five scrap importing ports in India.
Total scrap import at Kandla Port in Aug’16 fell by 4% M-o-M and recorded at 28,488 MT. While, import at Mundra port moved down by 28% M-o-M and assessed at 10,182 MT.
The total ferrous scrap import to India during Jan-Aug’16 was 3.99 MnT.
