Ferro Silicon prices move down marginally on seasonal slow-down

Demand for Ferro Silicon is weak globally and the market is expected to slump further in the coming days, due to the commencement of the Monsoon season in India. Some Ferro Silicon producers in India are also of the view that Bhutan, with huge production capacities, might be inclined to dump their stock in India at considerably lower prices. Market participants also pointed out that Bhutanese producer’s are also selling Ferro Silicon on credit, which is impacting the local Ferro Silicon industry negatively. 

However, few industries that our growing despite the down-turn, such as Set-Top Box, 3G Phone, and Mobile PC’s are likely to aid in the survival of the market.

 Current prices of Ferro Silicon (70-75) are Rs. 66,000 /MT in Guwahati, Rs. 69,000-70,000 /MT in Raipur. Prices mentioned are basic.
