HBIS Group Serbia is planning to restart its blast furnace No.1 in Smederevo city, eastern Serbia, from 16 Aug’21, SteelMint learnt from the company’s latest press release. Improving market conditions and growing demand have necessitated the restart of the blast furnace, with production capacity depending on market requirements. The furnace was shut down on 5 Jul’20, as market activities slowed down due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. For the past 11 months, only blast furnace No.2 was operational.
