Essar Steel: Iron Ore and Pellet Sourcing up 22% M-o-M in Nov’17

Essar Steel – an integrated steelmaker with steel making capacity of 10 MnT p.a. increased its iron ore & pellet sourcing by 22% M-o-M to 1.24 MnT in Nov’17 compared to 1.02 MnT in Oct’17.

The Y-o-Y iron ore & pellet sourcing also recorded a rise of 13% in Nov’17 as against 1.10 MnT in Nov’16.

Iron ore procurement from NMDC (C.G.) up by 7% M-o-M – Essar Steel procured 0.62 MnT of iron ore in Nov’17 from NMDC’s Bailadila mines in Chhattisgarh via slurry pipeline which stood 7% up as against 0.58 MnT in Oct’17. However it also witnessed an increase of 24% Y-o-Y in Nov’17 compared to 0.50 MnT in Nov’16.

Sourcing from Odisha’s merchant mines increased by 26% M-o-M – Essar Steel sourced 0.45 MnT iron ore from Odisha’s merchant mines up by 26% M-o-M in Nov’17 compared to 0.36 MnT in Oct’17. Out of the total iron ore sourced from Odisha in Nov’17, largest share was Serajuddin Mines (0.20 MnT) followed by KJS Ahluwalia Mines (0.14 MnT) and Indrani Patnaik mines at (0.08) MnT. Essar Steel’s iron ore sourcing from Serajuddin Mines doubled in Nov’17.

Essar Steel pellet imports increased sharply in Nov’17- Essar Steel pellet imports reached 0.18 MnT doubled M-o-M in Nov’17 against 0.09 MnT in Oct’17. The steel maker imported 0.18 MnT pellets from Bahrain in Nov’17.
