Coal Output to Increase in South Africa as New Mining Project Swings into Action

Output of Coking as well as Non-Coking coal is likely to increase in South Africa in the medium term as a new project for extracting the coal variants has been set into motion.

Coal of Africa, a major coal miner in that country, has completed an optimization study and, front-end engineering and design for coal mining at Makhado in the Limpopo province of South Africa.

The miner will extract Coking and Non-Coking coal for domestic consumption as well as exports. Initially, open cast mining will be done, and the operations will be extended to underground mining in the future.
