>> Australian mining major, South32, has recorded a 43% lower Coking Coal production in Q42017, at 788 ‘000MT, over the same quarter of the preceding year. The shrinkage in the coal output was due to the suspension of its Appin mine operations on account of higher gas concentrations.
>>BHP Billiton has produced 10% higher Non Coking coal in Q42017 against the same period of the previous year. The mining major during the last quarter of 2017 produced 7.3 MnT of the coal. The rise in the production was attributed to improved shipping performance during the quarter.
>> The Government of India is considering handing over Coking Coal mining to the Steel Ministry to boost the coal supplies to the steel industry, which is on the path of becoming the second largest steel producing country in the world.
