Anthracite Coal Global Offers Sink, Following Coking Coal Price Trend

Anthracite Coal international offers have slid as Coking Coal prices are falling in the Australian market. As a matter of fact, prices of both the coal types are inter-related as Anthracite Coal can be blended with Coking Coal for coke formation during steel making.

The offers for Anthracite Coal have gone down by around USD 135/MT CFR India, lower by around USD 10/MT over the week-ago rates.

There will be no impact of the price variations on Indian buyers as they are not interested in using the coal, and instead prefer alternate fuels.

As there is almost no demand in the Indian market imports of the coal have been insignificant in the country. During the first half of Jan’18, only 93,500 MT of the coal was imported in India. The only importers were: JSW and Bhushan Steel.
