- Revised requirement applies to auctions after 5 Oct’26
- SECL, ECL revise auction terms and schedules
Coal India Ltd (CIL) has increased the bid security for participation in its e-auction scheme from INR 150/t to INR 500/t, effective for auctions held following the issuance of its notice dated 5 October 2026. The revised requirement applies to e-auctions conducted by CIL subsidiaries under the CIL E-Auction Scheme 2022.
Following the revision, South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL) rescheduled its SWMA e-auction, which was originally scheduled for 6 October, to 10 October 2026. The change was made to provide consumers with adequate time to deposit the revised bid security.
Eastern Coalfields Ltd (ECL) also informed bidders that the revised bid security of INR 500/t would apply to its auction scheduled for 10 October, replacing the INR 150/t specified in the original offer notice dated 3 October. All other terms and conditions remained unchanged.
Revised security applies to upcoming auctions
According to CIL’s notice, dated 5 October, the revised bid security applies to e-auctions conducted under the CIL E-Auction Scheme 2022 following the notice’s issuance. The notice was circulated to the marketing and sales departments of CIL subsidiaries, including ECL, Bharat Coking Coal Ltd (BCCL), Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL), Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL), Western Coalfields Ltd (WCL), SECL and Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL), as well as North Eastern Coalfields.
The revised requirement increases the upfront security deposit needed from participants, while the subsidiaries’ notices confirmed that other auction terms and conditions would remain unchanged.
SECL, ECL issue auction updates
SECL revised the schedule for its SWMA e-auction through a notice dated 5 October. The auction, previously scheduled for 6 October under its notice dated 29 September, was rescheduled to 10 October to allow bidders additional time to arrange the higher security deposit.
ECL separately confirmed that the bid security for its 10 October auction would be INR 500/t, despite the original offer notice specifying INR 150/t. The update followed CIL’s revised security requirement.
The notices set out the implementation of the revised bid security across the respective auction events, with bidders required to follow the updated terms.
