CIL’s production has increased by 19% M-o-M. However, the company fell short of goal by 5% for the month.
India’s largest coal producer, CIL has produced 44.3 MnT of coal in Oct’15 against targeted 46.8 MnT. The company has missed its production target by 5%, although it has achieved its Off- take target. It is to be noted the CIL had produced 40.2 MnT of coal in Oct’14, which increased by about 10% in Oct’15.
CCL and SECL achieved their production targets by 106% and 102% and emerged as the star performers for the month among all eight subsidiaries of CIL.

According to a release by Indian coal ministry, annual coal demand for FY16 has grown to 910 MnT. Centre has planned about 550 MnT of coal production from CIL and about 150 MnT from SCCL and other captive blocks. But, the Centre has also planned about 210 MnT from import by fuel starved sectors including both regulated and non-regulated sectors.
