A total of 280 million tons of Coal was produced by Coal India (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) in the first eight months of this fiscal till the 21st of November 12.
The figure saw a rise by 7% as compared to the same period during 2011. Output was 261 mt in total for same period in 2011-12
CIL contributes 80% of the total Coal produced in India and output stood at 250 MT in April to 21st of November improved by 9% i.e. 208.3 MT during April to October 12 during the current fiscal year where SCCL contributed a total of 30 MT.
Production target of 286 MT was missed by both the firms which stood at 260 MT and off-take was at 310 MT against the target of 320 MT.
For Q3, CIL has set a production target of 125 MT. Output was up by 9% at 208.3 MT in April to October 11.
Coal India has set a target of 464 mt for the current fiscal. In the last fiscal, it produced 435.84 MT and is hopeful of 615 MT BY 2016-17.
