Odisha contributes almost entirely towards chrome ore production in India. Chrome ore production in Odisha has been recorded at 297,688 MT in Nov’16. It is about 19% above the production witnessed in Oct’16.
Productions by the captive miners have increased by 13% M-o-M. Balasore Alloys marks a substantial 70% increase in production, from Oct’16. Jindal Stainless and IDICOL also contributed significantly towards the increased production of captive mines.
TATA Steel, one of the largest merchant miners in the country, recorded an increase of 37% in production. OMC also saw a mere 9% increase in production of chrome ore in contrast to B.C. Mohanty & Sons which witnessed high production cuts.
