Chinese Plate Export Offers Move Down Following Decline in Domestic Prices

Chinese plate export offers witnessed decline by USD 10/MT W-o-W basis since the domestic market has lost its upward momentum resulting to continuous fall in plate export prices.

Current export offers are recorded at USD 525-535/MT,FoB China.Last offers was heard in the range of USD 535-540/MT.

Meanwhile plate prices for commercial grade 14-20 mm in China’s domestic market showed the increase of RMB 30/MT and are heard in the range of RMB 4,020-4,050/MT,including VAT.

Major mills in China are offering on the higher side which is around USD 550-555/MT,FoB basis and they are ready to offer discounts for overseas buyers.

India: Domestic plate prices remained dull over weak purchases
Indian plate prices continues to remained on lower side owing to weaker market sentiments in domestic market.Demand remained subdued and continuous decline in sales volumes has affected the domestic plate market to much extent.Absence of demand push has made the Indian mills reluctant to revise the plate prices since it had to remained stable for couple of weeks.

Currently reference prices (basic) for plates (5-10 mm, IS 2062) for this week are heard at INR 39,000/ MT (ex-Delhi) and INR 37,500-38,000/MT (ex-Mumbai).The prices mentioned above are basic prices excluding GST @ 18%.
