Chinese domestic billet prices hit over a nine-year high on production curbs

Today the billet prices in the Tangshan market (northeast China) witnessed a significant rise of RMB 50 ($8) against yesterday. The billet transactions were moderate, while finished steel prices have seen trending upwards. The prices of commonly traded Q235 billet 150mm diameter were reported at RMB 4,470/t ($688/t) in Tangshan, including 13 % VAT. Prices are hovering at 9.5 year high levels due to imposed production restrictions on environmental concerns.
