China Tops India’s Steel Exporters List in 2015

Subdued demand and supply glut at global level led to increased exports at cheaper rates by major steel producing countries.

The year 2015 proved to be the worst year for Indian steel industry with imports registering a hike of 29.18% against 2014. Flat steel imports increased by 36% while non-flat products inched up by only 2%. The highest imports were booked from China with highest shipments arriving at Mumbai port.

As per the JPC data, amongst the total flat product imports, highest increase was recorded in HRC import which increased by 96% in 2015 against previous year followed by plates import which increased by 44% while CRC imports rose by 21%.
