Domestic 5500 kcal/kg NAR coal prices in China fell modestly by 11% m-o-m to RMB 1,175/t ($178) in April amid rising coal output and strict lockdown restrictions observed in the most part of the month. The fall in prices also came against the backdrop of increased capacity addition in coal mining provinces. In a bid to restrict prices within a reasonable range, NDRC has deployed a price formation mechanism for medium and long-term coal contracts from May.
