China: Steel billet imports plunge by over 80% m-o-m in Sep’24

China’s steel billet imports dropped sharply by 83% m-o-m to 10,234 t in Sep’24 compared to 61,739 t in Aug’24, as per customs data maintained with BigMint.
Japan emerged as the major exporter with 9,876 t.
Cumulative import volumes in 9MCY’24 (Jan-Sep’24) fell 32% y-o-y to 1.10 mnt as compared to 1.63 mnt in the year-ago period.
