China: Shanxi suspends coal mine operations due to heavy rains, flooding

China’s Shanxi province, the country’s top coal-producing region, has suspended operations at 27 mines amid heavy rainfall and flooding, thereby adding pressure to the ongoing coal supply crunch and power supply crisis in the country. As far as imported coal is concerned, global thermal coal prices have touched an all-time high with high-CV coal of different origins trending above $210/t.
