China: Power generation rises 5% in May amid easing lockdown restrictions

Amid the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions in China, power generation rebounded by 5% m-o-m to 641 terawatt-hours (TWh) in May, with daily output at 20.68 TWh, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed. Thermal power generation reached 404.5 TWh in May, followed by hydropower at 121.7 TWh and wind and solar generation at 59.5 TWh and 20.7 TWh, respectively.
