China: Ferrous scrap imports jump by over 50% m-o-m in Jul’24

China’s ferrous scrap imports surged by 59% m-o-m reaching 12,764 t as compared to 8,009 t in Jun’24. Y-o-y, imports remained marginally stable at 12,764 t as compared to Jul’23. However, imports fell by 27% during Jan-Jul’24 totalling 99,531 t compared to 136,624 t in same period of last year. Japan remained the leading exporter at 6,112 t followed by South Korea and Myanmar at 3,301 t and 1,071 t respectively.
