China: Copper scrap imports drop over 9.5% m-o-m in Apr’22

China’s copper scrap imports in Apr’22 were recorded at 1,35,331 t, a 9.7% decrease m-o-m as against 1,49,935 t in Mar’22, according to data compiled by SteelMint. The fall in imports is attributed to a slump in demand due to Covid lockdown and production cuts, leading to slow market activities. Meanwhile, imports also decreased by 19% y-o-y from 167,520 t in Apr’21.
