In Nov’21, China’s metallurgical coke production was recorded at 33.85 mn t, down 17.4% year-on-year. In the Jan-Nov period, the country’s coke output stood at 428.39 mn t, down 1.6% y-o-y. Steel production curbs in China have led to lower demand for met coke. In addition, successive rounds of coke price reductions totalling RMB 1,600/t ($251/t) in Nov impacted production, CoalMint notes.
