The Chhattisgarh Conservation Pollution Board in consultation with State Government has ordered to close down 44 rolling mills based in the capital of Chhattisgarh as to reduce the increased pollution in Raipur.
Even State government is planning to release order to cut the power supply to these mills. Chhattisgarh conservation pollution board has taken this decision to control the rising pollution in the city and it is an important step taken by the board till now.
On 7 Nov’16, the meeting was held in Chhattisgarh Information and Promotion Society based in Raipur and it was chaired by Mr. Aman Singh, who is the secretary to the pollution board.
On 8th Nov’16, CG Steel Re-rollers Association also held meeting with Mr Aman Singh but no concrete decision has taken so far. Follow up meeting is also heard to be scheduled today.
As per SteelMint information, most of the rolling mills which are ordered for closure are small structural mills like angle, channel, patti etc.
Chhattisgarh has a total capacity of rolling mills mainly finish long which is more than 5 MnT and most of the mills are based in and around Raipur which is a major industrial belt.
