Since past two days, structure offers in Central region, Raipur moved up sharply owing to significant price surge in Ingot/billet and some improved demand.
Raipur which is the hub of re-rolling industry in the Indian market, offers here increased – for light structures by INR 800/MT & for medium/heavy sizes by INR 1,600/MT. Basic offers (ex-works) are reported at INR 26,000/MT and INR 29,000/MT for light and Medium/Heavy structures, respectively.
One of the re-roller who produced about 400-500 TPD medium/heavy structures in the region added, the rise in offers is majorly due to the moving Ingot/billet prices. Also, the manufacturers are trying to extract the maximum profits from the current positive market trends.
He also added that discounts might vary depending upon the quantity and brand the end user is preferring.
In context, price movement in other major markets it surge about INR 400-800/MT in Ghaziabad (North region), INR 400/MT Ahmedabad (Western India), INR 500/MT in Hyderbad (South India) & INR 700-800/MT in Durgapur (Eastern India).
As per market sources of SteelMint, strong offers of Ingot-billet influenced the structure manufacturers to keep offers on rising mode.

State owed PSU has initiated new tender for the conversion agent for structural steel in Ghaziabad for the medium and heavy structure.
The conversion agent will have to rollover approximately 3,000 MT semi finished per month in to the structures – Channel 250/300 mm, Joist 250/300/350/400/450 mm & H Beam 152×152 mm.
The tender due date is: 03 Jul’17 at 15:00 hrs
