Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) is considering using coal for conversion to liquid fuels.
In a recent development, CCL is learnt to be planning for executing a coal-to-liquid project, apparently aimed at putting surplus coal to use, especially in the wake of dwindling demand for coal, arising from the prominence of renewable energy. Coal-to-liquid process refers to conversion of coal to liquid fuels, which will be used in automobiles.
CCL is expected to soon invite expressions of interest in respect to the proposed venture.
Its parent, Coal India Limited, has already expressed its intention to embark upon coal-to-chemicals projects.
