Canada – one of the major scrap exporters has exported 1.63 MnT so far in CY17 (till May’17) while the country had exported 3.37 MnT ferrous scrap in CY16.
As per Canadian customs, the nation has exported 0.45 MnT ferrous scrap in May’17 compared to 0.37 MnT in Apr’17. Thus, exports volumes have increased by 22% M-o-M.The rise of 30% was also registered compared with 1.26 MnT exports in the first five months period in (Jan-May) CY16.
However on yearly premises, export volumes have moved up by 50 % against 0.30 MnT exports in May’16.
USA remained the preferred destination for Canadian scrap exports
USA remained the best destination for Canada ferrous scrap exports and imported 0.27 MnT scrap in May’17.Turkey has elevated to the 2nd largest importer of Canada ferrous scrap and has imported 0.10 MnT in May’17.
Unlike previous months, Mexico raised imports from Canada and has imported 0.06 MnT in May’17.whereas, India imported 0.01 MnT ferrous scrap from Canada in May’17.
Other major scrap importing countries from Canada in CY17 (till May’17) were – Taiwan (0.03 MnT), India (0.02 MnT), Bangladesh (0.02 MnT), and China (0.02 MnT).
