Brazil's Pig Iron Export Witnesses a Sharp Growth

Brazil's exports of Pig iron increased by nearly 50% in volume in June  as compared to the last month, with the US is accounting for about 90% of shipments. 

Last month, Pig iron shipments totaled 149,787  which were 49.6% higher than that of May. Meanwhile, the average price has declined slightly in the same period from $414.22/MnT FOB to $413.14/ MnT FOB. 

The US has increased its imports by 76% from 78,307 MnT in May to 138,095 MnT last month. It  has also spent 77% more at $56.2 million, with an average price of $407.34/MnT FOB in June against $31.8 million at an average price of $405.97/ MnT FOB in May. The US increased its share of total Brazilian Pig iron exports to 92% last month from 78% in May.

Ukraine's Pig Iron Production Remains Firm

Ukraine's pig iron production remained unchanged Y-O-Y. Ukraine made almost 14.5 MnT of pig iron in January- June, the same amount as the same period a year ago. Ukraine's capacity utilization thus remained at 85% for pig iron.
