Vale in its recent press release informed about resumption and the expansion of Serra Leste operations, Curionopolis towards Dec’20. Serra Leste is expected to produce 4-5 mnt pa in 2021 and may reach full capacity of 6 mn t pa by 2022. The production was put to halt since Jan’19 after having reached the limit of iron ore extraction in the previous license. The expansion project is to allow a capacity upgrade to 10 mn t pa, with start-up expected in the first semester of 2023.
