Recent trade statistics released by Brazil Customs show that the country has exported around 31.8 MnT iron ore in Jul’17.
Brazil iron ore exports were down by 6% M-o-M against 33.8 MnT in Jun’17. However the exports were up by 5% Y-o-Y for the month of Jul which were at 30.3 MnT in Jul’16.
Monthly average iron ore export price falls by 7%
The average export price for Brazilian iron ore continued fell in Jul’17 and was around USD 37.6/MT, FoB Brazil, down by USD 2.8/MT from Jun’17 as it was USD 40.4/MT, FoB Brazil. However, on Y-o-Y basis, average export prices rose by USD 4.7/MT against USD 32.9/MT, FoB Brazil in Jul’16.
Vale accounted for 85% share in Brazilian iron ore exports in Jun’17
According to data provided by Inchcape Shipping Services, Brazil, – the country exported 31.31 MnT iron ore via sea route. Vale, the world’s largest iron ore producer exported around 86% of iron ore via sea route of the total exports. In Jul’17, the miner exported 27.4 MnT iron ore via sea route, CSN – 1.98 MnT, Anglo American – 1.91 MnT and Trafiguara – 0.51 MnT.

China, the largest iron ore importer of Brazilian iron ore imported around 50% of total Brazilian iron ore exports in Jul’17 via sea route, followed by Netherlands, Japan and Malaysia.
Ponta Da Madeira accounted for 46% share in Jul’17 Brazil iron ore exports – 14.72 MnT iron ore was exported from Brazil’s Ponta Da Madeira. Other major ports for Brazilian iron ore export were Tubarao port and Guaiba port.
