Bangladesh: Australian 5100 NAR coal sold at $128/t FOB

In a confirmed deal, a supramax vessel of Australian 5100 kcal/kg NAR grade coal by mining giant Yancoal was sold at $128/t FOB basis to Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s coal imports from Australia had declined to nil over the last five months amid the latter’s strong demand in the European and Japanese markets. Bangladesh’s coal imports were at 4.3 mnt during Jan-Aug’22, up by 16% y-o-y.
