Baltic Dry Index rises on Capesize, Supramax strength; Panamax witnesses drop

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index gained 28 points against 14 Nov’25 to 2,153 on 17 Nov. Capesize rates strengthened on improved iron ore demand and tighter tonnage, amid China’s winter restocking, which helped balance a dip in Panamax levels. Supramax rates also firmed on steady minor bulk activity.

  • Capesize: The BCI surged 76 points to 3,328.
  • Panamax: The BPI declined 10 points to 1,887.
  • Supramax: The BSI increased 15 points to 1,423.
